Coaching Camp

Whether you are a professional group or amateur: At all stages in your career, it is essential to keep evolving, to never stand still, to get feedback from your peers. As the Real Group, we were lucky to have great mentors early on in our career to guide us in finding our expression as a group.“ (Peder Karlsson)

Black Forest Voices offers a unique concept where you can develop musically in a sheltered creative space, yet be part of an inspiring festival.
If you are an ambitious or semi-pro vocal group till 8 members, we want you to apply - a total of 6 groups will get the chance to participate in the Coaching Camp.

Over the course of 4 days, you will get a chance to work with a world-class mentor and develop a close relationship:

Peder Karlsson
(ex The Real Group)
    Kim Nazarian
(New York Voices)
    Kevin Fox
(The Swingles)

The camp is highly practically oriented: your coach will guide you through the soundcheck and prepare for you performance on the main festival stage. Finally you will have a closing feedback session with your coach - and receive notes from various festival teachers.

We want to give you the best possible experience and for you to benefit as much as possible from the festival.
Every coach will work with two groups across three days. Each group will spend half their time actively working and half their time observing the other group being coached.

Thursday Afternoon Welcome reception, getting to know your coach and the other groups. First musical session.
Friday Intensive day with your coach
Saturday morning Work with additional coaches from the festival
Saturday afternoon Guided soundcheck with your coach
Saturday evening Performance as part of the vocal night
Sunday morning Feedback Session and wrap-up

In addition, you’ll get to work with additional festival coaches, work with experts on the aspects of stage presentation and group development.

You will have feedback on your stage presence and choreography from Vocal Group pro Linda Jesse (ex-Unduzo).
A special emphasis is on group development. Experienced vocal coach Daniel Barke (VOXID) will have a session with each group:
Who are we, what do we want - and what can we do align our motivations and achieve our goals.
